In Budapest’s 13th district lies the Mandala Day Spa, an oasis of oriental luxury that has been blending eastern and western traditions on 1,500 square metres since 2003. Unlike Budapest’s famous historical baths, this modern facility received the prestigious World Luxury Spa Award for its holistic philosophy involving all the senses: soft lighting, mantra music, natural aromas and marble-clad rooms.
The centre has four pools with different temperatures, a jacuzzi for ten people, Finnish sauna and Turkish steam cabin. The zero-gravity chair simulates weightlessness, intensifying relaxation. The limited number of entrances guarantees tranquillity, while the Mandala Lounge offers tea and flavoured water included in the ticket.
The treatments use Hungarian ingredients such as Hévíz thermal water and Sárvár crystals. For a complete Budapest spa experience, we also recommend the Széchenyi Bath s or the Gellért Baths.
On arrival you will receive an electronic locker bracelet, bathrobe, towels and slippers. The staff will guard your valuables free of charge. Before entering the wet areas, spend twenty minutes in the zero-gravity chair, which simulates weightlessness by amplifying the effects of massage. The four thermal pools maintain different temperatures of up to 38°C, allowing you to alternate between hot and cold. The water is chlorine-free thanks to advanced filtration systems. Light effects and projections on the ceilings create a unique meditative atmosphere.
The ten-person jacuzzi with whirlpool jets is particularly atmospheric in the evening. You can order champagne to enjoy while soaking in the hot water. The Finnish sauna reaches 80-90°C with hourly Aufguss sessions, while the Turkish steam cabin offers more humid heat at 45°C. The relaxation area includes heated marble benches at 36°C and suspended hammocks near the bar, where herbal tea and flavoured water are included. The bar also serves light menus with sushi and salads.
The Mandala Lounge features loungers, a tea corner with organic Hungarian teas and a library with magazines. During some weekends, mini concerts with oriental instruments and guided meditation sessions are held, turning the visit into a complete spiritual journey that goes beyond mere thermal relaxation.
Access requires advance booking, with limited entry to ensure exclusivity. The Basic Package includes four hours of access but does not include bathrobe and slippers. The VIP Package (most popular) adds towels, slippers, bathrobe, twenty minutes in the zero gravity chair and welcome champagne, representing the best value for money.
The Relaxation Package also includes an aromatic scrub, while the Premium Package adds a light meal (sushi or salad) with a second glass of champagne. This is reserved for adults with a minimum height of 120 cm.
The Mandala Day Spa opens daily from 10:00 to 20:00 without interruption, including public holidays and the Christmas period (24-26 December and New Year’s Eve). You can choose your entrance time between 10:00 and 16:00, as each visit lasts four hours. The most popular slots are in the late afternoon (entrance 16:00, exit 20:00) when the evening atmosphere is particularly atmospheric.
During high season (summer weekends and Christmas holidays) book at least two weeks in advance. The online calendar shows availability up to 90 days in advance. The facility keeps the number of people under 40 at any one time, always guaranteeing space in the pools and saunas. Weekday mornings between October and March are generally quieter. The Mandala Day Spa is located at Ipoly utca 8, in district XIII of Budapest, a quiet residential area about 2 kilometres north of the historical centre of Pest. Although the location is slightly off-centre from the main tourist attractions, it is well connected by Budapest’s public transport network and easily accessible from any part of the city.
The most convenient public transport is the M3 metro (blue line), which directly connects the city centre with the northern part of Pest. Get off at Lehel tér and from there the Mandala Day Spa is about a 7-minute walk, about 550 metres. Exiting the metro, head north along Váci út, turn left into Szent István körút and then the first right into Ipoly utca. The promenade passes through a typical Budapest residential neighbourhood, offering a glimpse of local life far from the tourist routes.
City buses are a convenient alternative, especially if you are staying in areas not directly served by the blue metro line. Lines 15, 75 and 76 stop at Ipoly Utca, just 100 metres from the hotel, making this the fastest connection ever. The stop is right in front of the spa entrance, eliminating any need for orientation.
Tram 14 is a picturesque option for those arriving from the southern part of Pest. This line runs along the Danube in its initial stretch and offers beautiful views of the river before entering residential neighbourhoods. Get off at the Lehel tér M stop and from there it is about a 9-minute walk. Tram 14 is particularly useful if you are staying near the Great Covered Market or in the university area.
City Card allow you to save on public transport and / or on the entrances to the main tourist attractions.
